
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the nation’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, has reached a monumental milestone by achieving cumulative domestic sales of 3 crore units. This achievement, realized over 42 years, underscores the company’s consistent leadership in the Indian automotive market and the enduring trust of its customers.
The journey to this landmark has accelerated over the decades. Maruti Suzuki took 28 years and 2 months to cross the first 1 crore cumulative sales, followed by just 7 years and 5 months for the second crore. Impressively, the most recent 1 crore units were sold in a record 6 years and 4 months, highlighting the brand’s growing popularity and market penetration.
Among the 3 crore units sold in India, the Alto emerged as the most popular model with over 47 lakh units, followed by the Wagon R with more than 34 lakh units and the Swift with over 32 lakh units. Other models such as the Brezza and Fronx also feature among the top 10 best-selling vehicles in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio, reflecting the brand’s wide-ranging appeal across segments.
This achievement cements Maruti Suzuki’s dominance in India’s passenger vehicle market and showcases its ability to adapt, innovate, and meet the evolving needs of Indian customers.
The first car, the iconic Maruti 800, was handed over to the first customer on 14th December 1983, marking the start of an automobile revolution in the country. Since then, the Company has consistently worked to manufacture and deliver passenger vehicles that align with the evolving customer needs to fulfil their dream of ‘Joy of Mobility’. Maruti Suzuki currently offers over 170 variants across 19 models.
