Over 400 students from 70 leading Indian and global design institutes showcased their creativity, innovation, and bold thinking to design a compact car.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, successfully concluded its inaugural Maruti Suzuki Design Challenge, aimed at connecting young design talent with the automotive industry.

The competition saw participation from over 400 students representing 70 top Indian and international design institutes. The challenge encouraged aspiring designers from across the country to envision innovative mobility solutions and futuristic car designs, fostering creativity and collaboration between the next generation of designers and one of India’s most prominent automotive brands.

After a rigorous evaluation across 4 rounds, teams from MIT Institute of Design (Pune), Association of Designers of India at VIT (Vellore) and Strate School of Design (Bengaluru) secured the top 3 spots. The winning teams received cash prizes and secured a 6-month internship opportunity with the Maruti Suzuki design team, where they will work alongside the Company’s professional designers and contribute to the design of future models. The next seven teams were acknowledged for their efforts with gift vouchers and a possible opportunity to intern with Maruti Suzuki after further evaluations. This initiative will enable promising design talent to connect with the industry meaningfully and contribute to the future of mobility.

Highlighting the importance of the activity, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “India is a land of immense talent and innovation, with creativity thriving across every field.
