Vespa India has launched the Vespa Officina 8, a new special-edition scooter inspired by Officina 8, the experimental workshop at Piaggio’s Pontedera plant in Italy where the original Vespa prototypes were developed.
Priced from ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom), the Vespa Officina 8 is available in 125cc and 150cc variants and comes with a colour-matched helmet as standard. The special edition is now available at select Vespa dealerships across India.
Design and Heritage
The Vespa Officina 8 reflects its heritage through a restrained, functional design approach. It features Vespa’s signature steel body finished in a matte metallic Blue Officina 8 shade developed exclusively for this edition. Design highlights include metallic rivets, along with brass and aluminium accents, reinforcing the scooter’s industrial and heritage-inspired aesthetic.
Accessories and Merchandise
Alongside the scooter, Vespa has introduced a range of Officina 8–themed accessories and merchandise. In addition to the standard colour-matched helmet, buyers can opt for a top box finished in the same matte metallic tone, as well as branded apparel and lifestyle accessories.
Customers will also receive a complimentary welcome kit, which includes a specially crafted tin box and an owner’s book detailing the origins of Officina 8 and the early development of the Vespa brand.
Legacy of Officina 8
Established in 1944, Officina 8 served as Piaggio’s dedicated experimental centre, where engineers and technicians worked outside conventional production lines to design, test and refine new prototypes. The innovations developed at Officina 8 led to the patenting of the Vespa in 1946, introducing several defining features such as the step-through steel frame, two-stroke engine, direct-drive transmission and handlebar-mounted gear control.
As Piaggio’s research and development operations expanded in the years that followed, Officina 8 became synonymous with innovation, craftsmanship and precision—values reflected in this special-edition Vespa.
