Tata Power has commissioned its first 180 kW ultra-fast EV charging station on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway, marking a significant step toward strengthening long-distance electric mobility and improving convenience for EV users.
The new charging station has been installed at Vithal Kamat Restaurant on National Highway 48. Tata Power stated that the addition enhances India’s expanding EV infrastructure along one of the country’s busiest highway corridors, helping reduce charging times and improve reliability for intercity EV travel.
The charging station is part of Tata Power’s EZ Charge network and supports CCS 2, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles. The 180 kW charger can charge compatible EVs from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 15 to 30 minutes, enabling faster turnarounds for both private and commercial users.
Tata Power highlighted that the location also offers added convenience for travellers, with access to dining facilities, clean restrooms and comfortable waiting areas while vehicles are being charged.
The company noted that the installation is aimed at addressing range anxiety and supporting seamless long-distance EV travel. The move also aligns with Tata Power’s broader strategy to expand high-speed EV charging infrastructure across national highways and key mobility corridors in India.
