Maruti Suzuki promotes Alok Jaitley to strengthen Global Compliance and Safety Strategy

With over 35 years of experience, Jaitley will lead global compliance, certification, and regulatory strategy as automotive norms evolve worldwide.

Maruti Suzuki India has promoted Alok Jaitley to the position of Executive Officer – Homologation, reinforcing its regulatory and certification capabilities as automotive norms continue to evolve rapidly in India and global markets. The appointment comes at a time when emission, safety, and sustainability regulations are becoming increasingly stringent, making compliance and future-readiness a critical focus for automakers.

The company stated that Jaitley’s extensive technical expertise and regulatory experience will play a key role in ensuring Maruti Suzuki’s product portfolio remains compliant, future-ready, and globally competitive. With over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, he will continue to lead the Homologation & Regulation vertical, overseeing vehicle and environmental regulations, domestic and export compliance, homologation testing, certification, and alignment with global regulatory standards.

Jaitley brings strong cross-functional expertise gained through leadership roles in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Body Engineering. This background equips him to effectively manage complex homologation requirements, regulatory transitions, and the development of next-generation vehicle platforms.

In addition to his responsibilities at Maruti Suzuki, Jaitley actively contributes to national and international automotive policy development. He currently serves as President of the Society of Automotive Fitness and Environment (SAFE), Co-Chair of the SIAM CSR (Crash Safety Regulation) Group, and participates as a member of Indian government delegations to the United Nations. In these roles, he contributes to discussions on General Safety Regulations and the Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA).

Through these engagements, he has played a significant role in shaping India’s vehicle safety framework, harmonising domestic standards with UN regulations, and strengthening India’s participation in global automotive governance.

Separately, Maruti Suzuki recently announced a senior leadership reshuffle, assigning Tapan Sahoo additional responsibility for the Information Technology (IT) vertical, effective April 1, 2026. He will continue to lead the Digital Enterprise (DE) and Information & Cyber Security functions alongside his expanded role.
