
Ashok Leyland has appointed K M Balaji as Whole-Time Director and Chief Financial Officer for a two-year term effective May 28, following approval by the company’s board and subject to shareholder approval, according to a stock exchange filing issued on Thursday.
Balaji, who currently serves as President – Finance and CFO, brings over three decades of experience with the commercial vehicle manufacturer. During his tenure, he has handled key functions including treasury, budgeting, costing, investor relations, taxation, business finance and product cost management.
He has also played a significant role in mergers and acquisitions evaluation, debt fundraising initiatives and overseas finance operations, including an assignment at Ashok Leyland’s bus assembly facility in the UK.
A qualified chartered accountant, Balaji has completed executive management programmes at leading institutions such as Harvard Business School, Kellogg School of Management, Indian School of Business and IIM Ahmedabad.
The company further stated that Balaji is not related to any of the directors of Ashok Leyland and is not disqualified from holding the office of director under any regulatory provisions.
