FlixBus India, the global travel-tech company, is marking two years of operations in South India with more than half of its India network now covering the region. The company is reporting strong year-on-year growth across key southern markets as it enters its third year of operations in the region.
In September 2026, FlixBus recorded significant network growth from major southern hubs compared with the same period in 2025. Its network from Hyderabad grew 159% year-on-year, while Bengaluru and Chennai recorded growth of 260% and 100%, respectively.
As part of its next phase of expansion, FlixBus India plans to add 120 buses across its southern network during Q3 and Q4 of 2026. The company will also extend its connectivity to destinations including Guntur, Coonoor and Ooty, further expanding its presence across South India.
As part of the expansion, FlixBus has introduced a new Hyderabad–Pondicherry connection, operated with a Volvo Sleeper service.
The new route is aimed at strengthening interstate connectivity between Telangana and Tamil Nadu, while adding Pondicherry as another leisure destination accessible from Hyderabad through the FlixBus network.
With the planned addition of 120 buses and new routes, FlixBus India is continuing to expand its intercity connectivity across South India as it enters its third year of operations in the region.
FlixBus entered South India in September 2024 and since then, the company has expanded across the region, connecting major urban centres with spiritual, regional and leisure destinations.
The next phase of expansion will strengthen FlixBus’s connectivity across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The addition of Guntur will expand its regional connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, while Coonoor and Ooty will extend the network into established hill and leisure destinations. The Hyderabad–Pondicherry connection will create an additional inter-state travel option between the two states.
Surya Khurana, Managing Director, FlixBus India, said: “South India has become a significant part of FlixBus India’s journey, and the fact that more than half of our network is now in the region is a reflection of the depth of the opportunity we see here. The next phase is about building density: connecting more cities, increasing capacity and making intercity travel a more accessible and dependable choice for passengers. Our asset-light model, combined with local operating partnerships and Flix’s technology and network expertise, gives us the ability to scale this model across markets while remaining responsive to the way people travel in India.”
The expansion is part of FlixBus India’s broader focus on building a connected intercity mobility network across India through technology and partnerships with regional bus operators. As the company enters its third year in South India, it will continue to expand its network while focusing on consistency in safety, service and passenger experience.
