Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle sales surge 42% to 59,790 units in May 2026

The company also recorded its highest-ever monthly EV sales of 10,517 units, reinforcing its leadership in India's electric vehicle market.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPVL) reported total sales of 59,790 units across domestic and international markets in May 2026, registering a 42% year-on-year growth compared to 42,040 units sold in May 2025.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 59,090 units during the month, up 42% from 41,557 units recorded in May 2025. International business sales also witnessed strong growth, increasing 45% to 700 units from 483 units in the corresponding period last year.

Including electric vehicles, Tata Motors’ total passenger vehicle sales reached 59,790 units, reflecting sustained demand across its product portfolio.

The company’s electric vehicle business continued to deliver strong growth momentum. Combined domestic and international EV sales rose 85% year-on-year to 10,517 units in May 2026, compared to 5,685 units sold during the same month last year. The figures include sales from Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

Tata Motors highlighted that its passenger vehicle business maintained strong growth momentum during the month, supported by robust demand across key segments. The company reported a 42% increase in wholesales, while VAHAN registrations grew by more than 50% year-on-year, indicating healthy retail demand.

The automaker also stated that it further strengthened its position as the second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India based on VAHAN registration data.
