The Automechanika Innovation Awards 2026 has entered its next stage with the announcement of the official nominees. Following an extensive evaluation process, an international jury has shortlisted 47 innovations from a record 185 submissions, highlighting the automotive aftermarket industry’s growing focus on digitalisation, artificial intelligence and sustainability.
The winners will be announced during a gala ceremony at Automechanika Frankfurt on September 8, 2026, with the awards presentation taking place at 5:00 PM on the AMBITION Stage in the Festhalle (Hall 2).
Record participation reflects industry innovation
This year’s edition recorded the highest number of entries in the history of the awards, with 185 submissions from companies showcasing innovations across the automotive aftermarket.
The evaluation was carried out by an international panel of experts representing Australia, Europe, South Africa, Türkiye, and North and South America. During a jury meeting held in Frankfurt on July 21, the panel selected 47 finalists based on detailed technical assessments.
The jury’s decisions were supported by independent evaluations from Dr. Gerhard Angerer, automotive consultant, and Dr. Andreas Schlegel, Managing Director of the Fraunhofer autoMOBILproduktion Alliance. A list of all the nominees has been published on the website.

Commenting on this year’s nominations, Dr. Gerhard Angerer said digitalisation continues to shape the industry while artificial intelligence and the circular economy are emerging as major innovation drivers.
Dr. Andreas Schlegel added that the 2026 entries demonstrate how innovation is moving beyond standalone products, with software, data, AI and sustainable technologies increasingly coming together to create integrated mobility solutions.
