Ather Energy has begun rolling out its new Pothole+ Alerts feature for Gen 2 and newer electric scooters, including the Ather 450 Apex, Ather 450X, and Rizta Z. The intelligent safety feature leverages connected vehicle data and road intelligence to alert riders about upcoming road hazards during active navigation.
The system is designed to detect and notify riders of potholes, damaged road surfaces, uneven patches, and speed breakers ahead. Alerts are displayed visually on the scooter’s dashboard, while audio notifications can be delivered through the scooter’s speakers, the Ather Halo smart helmet, or paired Bluetooth headsets, helping riders stay focused on the road.
Powered by Ather’s onboard computing platform and connected vehicle ecosystem, the feature continuously improves by analyzing aggregated data collected from the company’s growing fleet of connected scooters. This enables more accurate hazard detection and timely alerts for riders.
Announcing the rollout in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, said the feature has gone live following its preview at Ather Community Day 2025. He noted that developing the Pothole+ Alerts system required building a robust dataset from Ather’s connected fleet to accurately identify and map road hazards, marking another step in the company’s efforts to enhance rider safety through software-driven innovation.
