Hyundai names Junghyun Kwon Head of Autonomous Driving

Hyundai Motor Group has appointed Junghyun Kwon as Executive Vice President and Head of its Autonomous Driving Development Center. The former NVIDIA and Samsung Electronics executive will lead the company's autonomous driving technology development under its Physical AI strategy.

Hyundai Motor Group has appointed Junghyun Kwon as Executive Vice President and Head of its Autonomous Driving Development Center, reinforcing the company’s commitment to advancing its Physical AI vision for next-generation autonomous mobility.

The appointment is expected to strengthen Hyundai Motor Group’s autonomous driving capabilities, which form a key pillar of its future mobility strategy. In his new role, Kwon will lead the Group’s efforts to accelerate the development of autonomous driving technologies and drive innovation in intelligent mobility solutions.

Junghyun Kwon will report to Minwoo Park, President and Head of the Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) Division, as Hyundai Motor Group continues to expand its focus on AI-driven vehicle technologies and autonomous mobility development.

Kwon is an autonomous driving AI expert who has worked at leading global tech companies. He oversaw autonomous driving software development and commercialization at NVIDIA. Most recently, Kwon led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics.

Drawing on his deep expertise in autonomous vehicle perception software, deep learning, machine learning and computer vision technologies, Kwon will lead the Group’s autonomous driving technology development from conception through product commercialization.
