Escorts Kubota breaks ground on ₹2,000 crore manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh

Escorts Kubota has broken ground on a ₹2,000 crore manufacturing plant in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, with Phase 1 capacity for 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units annually.

Escorts Kubota Limited has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility at Sector 10 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) industrial zone of Uttar Pradesh. The foundation stone was laid on 19 August 2026, with the company planning to invest more than ₹2,000 crore in the project.

Spread across 154 acres, the facility will be developed in multiple phases and is expected to become one of Escorts Kubota’s largest manufacturing investments. In its first phase, the plant will have annual production capacity of up to 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units, along with supporting infrastructure and allied facilities.

Once fully developed, the facility is expected to rank among the largest manufacturing sites within the Kubota Group globally, according to the company. The investment will be funded through proceeds from an earlier preferential share issue to Kubota Corporation and internal accruals.

Integrated Manufacturing Facility

The new plant will bring the production of tractors, farm implements, construction equipment and engines together at a single integrated campus. Facilities will include machining, assembly, testing, engine manufacturing and a central spare-parts warehouse.

Escorts Kubota plans to implement the Kubota Production System, supported by automation and digital quality-control systems. The facility will also incorporate energy-efficient utilities and safety systems as part of its manufacturing infrastructure.

Strategic Location for Domestic and Export Markets

The facility is strategically located near the Yamuna Expressway and Noida International Airport at Jewar, providing access to road and air connectivity for domestic distribution and exports. Its proximity to the wider National Capital Region also offers access to established engineering, supplier and industrial ecosystems.

YEIDA allotted the land to Escorts Kubota following a Letter of Intent signed with the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Expanding Escorts Kubota’s Manufacturing Capacity

Escorts Kubota currently has annual manufacturing capacity of around 1.70 lakh tractors and 10,000 construction equipment units. The new facility will significantly expand this capacity and is intended to serve both Indian and international markets.

The project is also expected to create employment opportunities in Gautam Buddha Nagar, although the company has not yet disclosed a specific employment target.

India as a Strategic Manufacturing Hub

The investment forms part of Kubota Corporation’s broader strategy to expand its presence in India. The project aligns with the Japanese company’s Mid-Term Business Plan 2030, which identifies India as a priority growth market and aims to develop the country as a cost-competitive manufacturing hub for the wider Kubota Group.

India is one of the world’s largest tractor markets, supported by growing agricultural mechanisation and increasing adoption of farm equipment.

Escorts Kubota, established in 1944, is a major Indian manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, with tractor brands including Farmtrac, Powertrac and Kubota. Its products are sold through a wide dealer network in India and international markets.

Kubota Corporation, headquartered in Osaka, Japan, was founded in 1890 and operates in more than 120 countries across agricultural machinery, construction equipment, engines, and water and environmental solutions. The company holds a majority stake in Escorts Kubota, strengthening the two companies’ manufacturing, technology and business relationship.
