Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has invited Japanese companies to make the state their ‘Second Industrial Home’, with a focus on manufacturing, technology, R&D, skills and global supply chains.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has invited Japanese companies to make the state their “Second Industrial Home”, calling for deeper cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan in manufacturing, technology, innovation, skill development and global supply chains.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Uttar Pradesh-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, the Chief Minister highlighted the complementary strengths of the two regions. He said Japan brings decades of experience in precision manufacturing, quality, technology, research and the Kaizen philosophy, while Uttar Pradesh offers a young workforce, a large market, expanding infrastructure, skills and a business-friendly environment.

Describing the partnership as one of “Shared Growth, Shared Technology and Shared Prosperity,” Yogi Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh currently accounts for around 55% of India’s mobile phone production and nearly 60% of electronic component manufacturing.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s growing industrial ecosystem, including multimodal connectivity, industrial and freight corridors, 17 airports, metro networks in seven cities, two Dedicated Freight Corridors and expanding electronics, semiconductor and data-centre clusters. He also pointed to more than 75,000 acres of industrial land bank, 27 industrial manufacturing and logistics clusters and 36 sector-specific policies.

Yogi Adityanath said a Japan City is being developed near Noida International Airport, while the state is also expanding opportunities in semiconductors, electronics, electric mobility, clean energy, AI, robotics, defence manufacturing and other advanced sectors.

He urged Japanese companies to go beyond setting up manufacturing facilities in Uttar Pradesh and establish R&D centres, technology hubs, skill-development centres and global supply chains. He also proposed integrating Japanese manufacturing practices such as Kaizen, 5S, lean manufacturing, robotics, automation and precision engineering into workforce training.

The Chief Minister highlighted ongoing cooperation in green hydrogen, renewable energy and clean technologies, including two Green Hydrogen Centres of Excellence being established through leading institutions in Uttar Pradesh. He also cited the proposed Escorts Kubota project, which is expected to create around 4,000 jobs and initially produce 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units annually.

Yogi Adityanath said the next phase of India-Japan cooperation should translate into investments, innovation, manufacturing and technology partnerships on the ground. He also welcomed the proposed tripartite MoU between JETRO, Invest UP and CII, describing it as an important step towards strengthening Japanese investment in Uttar Pradesh.

Calling for a stronger and long-term Japanese industrial ecosystem in the state, the Chief Minister said the partnership could connect Japan’s manufacturing excellence with Uttar Pradesh’s young workforce and scale.

“From the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ to the ‘Heartland of India’, let us build the industries of the future,” he said.
