Maruti Suzuki exports over 1 lakh Made-in-India vehicles to Japan

Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative exports of the Jimny 5-door, FRONX and e VITARA to Japan have crossed 1 lakh units, reinforcing India’s role as a global manufacturing hub for Suzuki.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that cumulative exports of its Made-in-India Jimny 5-door, FRONX and e VITARA to Japan have surpassed 1 lakh units.

The milestone marks a significant achievement in the company’s export journey, particularly given Japan’s status as one of the world’s most competitive and technologically advanced automotive markets. It also highlights the growing global acceptance of vehicles manufactured in India and exported to demanding international markets.

Exports of FRONX to Japan commenced in August 2024, followed by Jimny 5-door in December 2024. The Company’s first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), e VITARA, joined this export portfolio in September 2025, further strengthening India’s role as a global manufacturing hub for Suzuki. Jimny 5-door and e VITARA are manufactured exclusively in India. 

With growing acceptance of Made-in-India vehicles, Japan stood as Maruti Suzuki’s second-largest export market by volume in FY 2025-26 and has retained the position during Apr-Aug FY 2026-27.The success of Jimny 5-door, FRONX, and e VITARA have also contributed towards Suzuki Motor Corporation (“Suzuki”) emerging as the No.1 vehicle importer in Japan in FY 2025-26, ahead of several established international players. Maruti Suzuki-manufactured vehicles accounted for nearly 100% of imports by Suzuki in Japan during FY 2025-26.

This success has helped Japan emerge as the second biggest market for Maruti Suzuki exports.”
