Amit Shah inaugurates fourth edition of UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida

The fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show has opened in Greater Noida with over 2,400 exhibitors and 600 international buyers from 90 countries.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The event brings together more than 2,400 exhibitors and over 600 international buyers from 90 countries, with around 1.5 lakh B2B visitors expected to participate. During the inauguration, Shah also launched the ‘Ek Janpad-Ek Vyanjan’ (ODOC) portal in the presence of the Chief Minister.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has gained growing global recognition for the quality of its products, supply-chain capabilities and entrepreneurial ecosystem. He noted that the state currently exports goods worth more than ₹2 lakh crore.

The Chief Minister said the UP International Trade Show has emerged as a major platform for presenting products manufactured in Uttar Pradesh to domestic and international markets. Last year, the event attracted 550 buyers from 72 countries, while this year’s edition has seen participation from more than 600 buyers representing 90 countries.

Connecting traditional skills with global markets

Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has always possessed significant economic and entrepreneurial potential, but the key challenge was creating the right ecosystem to connect local talent with larger markets.

“The world follows those who remain connected to their roots while moving shoulder to shoulder with the world.”

He said the trade show reflects the convergence of tradition and technology, heritage and innovation, and skills and markets, providing local manufacturers, artisans and entrepreneurs with a platform to establish their products in global markets.

According to the Chief Minister, the state’s One District-One Product (ODOP) initiative has played an important role in giving traditional industries a distinct identity. He recalled that the concept was identified as an important opportunity for Uttar Pradesh’s traditional enterprises and subsequently developed into a major state initiative.

Yogi said there was no shortage of talent or possibilities in Uttar Pradesh. However, artisans and traditional industries had historically faced challenges related to resources, market access, branding and infrastructure. The government, he said, identified traditional skills across districts, villages and local clusters and worked to connect them with modern markets.

Technology and infrastructure support local products

The Chief Minister said the state has focused on combining traditional skills with technology, while improving quality, design, packaging, certification, branding and marketing to make local products competitive in domestic and international markets.

He also highlighted the development of expressways, highways, airports, freight corridors and industrial infrastructure, saying these investments have improved access to major domestic and global markets.

Uttar Pradesh currently has 79 products with Geographical Indication (GI) tags, while applications have been submitted for another 75 products, according to the Chief Minister.

He cited products such as Bhadohi carpets, Moradabad brassware, Kannauj perfume and Varanasi silk sarees as examples of traditional products that have gained wider commercial recognition.

Government initiatives including ODOP, PM Vishwakarma and Vishwakarma Shram Samman have connected artisans with training, toolkits, financial support, branding and market opportunities.

International participation at UPITS

Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Singapore, Austria and Belarus are participating as partner countries at the fourth edition of UPITS, with dedicated pavilions showcasing their businesses and products.

The Chief Minister said participation by these countries could contribute to stronger bilateral trade relations while creating opportunities for technology transfer, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

He also highlighted the potential for international companies to manufacture in Uttar Pradesh and use the state as a base to access global markets, supported by India’s trade agreements with major economies.

Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath tour exhibition

Following the inauguration, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath visited the exhibition in an e-cart and toured various stalls.

The programme began with the two leaders paying floral tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Yogi Adityanath also presented Shah with a Radha-Krishna idol made from opal glass from Firozabad, showcased under the ODOP initiative.

During their tour, the leaders interacted with exhibitors and entrepreneurs and reviewed products displayed at various stalls. Shah also launched the ‘Ek Janpad Ek Vyanjan’ (ODOC) portal in the presence of the Chief Minister.

UP’s MSME sector employs more than three crore people

MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said the UP International Trade Show has evolved into an important platform for promoting the state’s products and businesses.

He said the event would facilitate B2B meetings between Uttar Pradesh enterprises and international buyers, providing greater global exposure to products manufactured by small businesses.

According to the minister, Uttar Pradesh has more than one crore MSME units employing over three crore people, making the sector the state’s second-largest employment generator after agriculture.

Under initiatives such as ODOP and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, more than six lakh handicraft artisans have benefited from training and advanced toolkits.

With the addition of 14 new trades, a total of 25 trades are now covered under training and advanced toolkit programmes. The government is also providing entrepreneurs with loans without interest and without collateral, according to the minister.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Ministers Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Bhupendra Chaudhary and Rakesh Sachan, Dr. Sanjay Nishad, Ministers of State Hansraj Vishwakarma and Brijesh Singh, MPs Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Surendra Nagar, MLAs Pankaj Singh, Dhirendra Singh and Tejpal Nagar, and other public representatives.
