Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has approved the appointment of Mukundan MS as its Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO), effective 1 September 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The company’s Board of Directors also approved the appointment of Young Geon Kim as Senior Management Personnel, effective 1 August 2026.
Leadership Transition
The appointments follow the superannuation of Gopalakrishnan CS, whose tenure as Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer will conclude at the close of business on 31 August 2026 after serving the company in the leadership role.
Mukundan MS to Lead Manufacturing Operations
Mukundan MS, who currently serves as Function Head – Production (CMO Office), brings more than 25 years of experience in automotive production and manufacturing support.
During his tenure with Hyundai Motor India, he has played a key role in several strategic initiatives, including production capacity expansion, implementation of flexible SUV manufacturing systems, AI-driven quality improvement programmes, carbon neutrality and renewable energy projects, as well as preparations for integrated production of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs).
Young Geon Kim Named Senior Management Personnel
Hyundai Motor India has also appointed Young Geon Kim as Senior Management Personnel, effective 1 August 2026.
With more than 30 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, production technology, plant operations and engineering, Kim joined Hyundai Motor India in 2025. Since then, he has been instrumental in overseeing production management initiatives, Genesis production readiness, Chennai plant integration, and the development of the company’s new manufacturing facilities.
The latest leadership appointments reflect Hyundai Motor India’s continued focus on strengthening its manufacturing capabilities as it prepares for future growth and the expansion of both conventional and electric vehicle production in the country.
