BMW India has launched the 2022 BMW X4 coupe SUV in the country, with prices starting at ₹ 70.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The facelifted coupe SUV will be offered in two variants – a petrol-powered X4 xDrive30i, and a diesel-powered X4 xDrive30d, which is priced at ₹ 72.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The BMW 4X facelift made its global debut last year, and the carmaker has now finally launched it in India. The SUV is locally produced at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai, and it will be available at all BMW dealerships across India from today onwards.
Commenting on the launch of the updated X4, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The BMW X4 popularised the distinctive Sports Activity Coupe concept in India.” He further added, “Now the new BMW X4 is ready to continue this status in its segment with a refreshed exterior and an attractive profile with multiple technology features. Its forever bold persona will make a statement that’s impossible to forget.”
BMW is offering the 2022 X4 two special colour options – Black Sapphire and M Brooklyn Grey metallic, which are paired with Leather Vernasca upholstery with ‘Black’ decor stitching. The cabin also gets M interior trim Aluminium Rhombicledark with highlight trim finisher in Pearl Chrome is standard. In addition to the regular variants, the BMW X4 will also be available in an exclusive ‘Black Shadow’ edition, which will be sold in limited numbers. Visually, the X4 gets a new face featuring a larger, redesigned kidney grille, finished in ‘M High Gloss Shadow line,’ slimmer adaptive LED headlamps and redesigned front apron. The M Shadow line also gets black accents and have Matrix lights as standard. The SUV also gets vertical air intakes and bumper inserts in dark shadow metallic.
The M High Gloss Shadow line treatment can also be seen on the profile like the window recess cover, mid pillars, side-view mirrors, and roof rail. The SUV runs on a set of 20-inch light M alloy wheels double-spoke and M Sport Brakes with red callipers. The rear section too has been redesigned and comes with body-coloured bumpers, which are also new. The slim wraparound LED tail lamps have also been tweaked. The X4 also gets a bigger tailgate now, and a wide free-form tailpipe in black colour.
The cabin has also received a makeover and looks a lot more upmarket now, featuring new Sports Seats which can be electrically adjusted and come with memory function. Even the rear seats now get a reclining function. The centre console is also new, and we also get new M headliner anthracite and M leather steering wheel with ‘Walknappa’ black with black stitching and M logo. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 3-zone automatic climate control, and welcome light carpet. The sharper cockpit is more driver-focused now, comes with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which includes 3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a BMW Head-up Display.
The infotainment system gets BMW’s gesture controls and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. BMW also offers a Virtual Assistant which can be activated by voice commands to perform several in-car controls. Plus, you get a Parking Assistant with Rear View Camera, along with Reversing Assistant. Other safety features include – six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting.
Under the hood, the 2022 BMW X4 xDrive30i comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 248 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque, while X4 xDrive30d gets a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder oil burner that makes 261 bhp and 620 Nm of peak torque. Both come mated to an 8-Speed Steptronic Sport Automatic Transmission with paddle shifters and xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system as standard. The SUV also gets comes with features such as Auto-Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, brake energy regeneration, electronic power steering, and different driving modes – ECOPRO, COMFORT, SPORT/ SPORT+. The X4 also gets BMW’s adaptive suspension, automatic differential brakes/locks (ADB-X)’, extended Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and hill start assist and hill descent control.
