Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses Argentina has inaugurated a new industrial vehicle manufacturing plant in Zarate, Buenos Aires province, with an investment of $110 million. The facility marks a major expansion for the company’s operations in South America and strengthens its long-term growth strategy in the region.
The new plant has an annual production capacity of up to 10,000 units and will manufacture Atego and Accelo trucks, along with OH and OF bus chassis, company executives announced during the inauguration event.
Speaking at the launch, Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said the company had reached the limits of growth at its previous facility, prompting the move to the new Zarate plant.
“We reached a limit in growth potential, and that led us to seek a new plant in Zarate,” Puchert stated. “Our mission is to satisfy domestic market demand, but also to pursue growth opportunities beyond Argentina.”
He added that the plant’s strategic location near a port will help improve logistics efficiency and support export operations.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses Argentina operates as a local subsidiary of Daimler Truck, one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. Globally, Daimler Truck reported sales of 422,510 trucks and buses in 2025, compared to 460,409 units in the previous year.
