BMW India has launched the first-ever BMW i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs 79.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the electric luxury sedan are now open through authorised BMW dealerships across the country and the company’s official website.
The BMW i5 Long Wheelbase will be locally manufactured at the BMW Group Plant Chennai, making it the brand’s first locally produced electric sedan in India. Deliveries of the new model will commence immediately.
Commenting on the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said the i5 LWB represents an important step in the company’s India strategy by combining electrification with the long-wheelbase luxury format. He highlighted the model’s focus on rear-seat comfort, electric technology, driving dynamics and chauffeur-driven luxury, while also emphasising BMW’s expanding local manufacturing capabilities.
BMW i5 LWB Price in India
The BMW i5 eDrive35L M Sport is priced at Rs 79.6 lakh ex-showroom. The First Edition is available at the same price. Ex-showroom pricing includes applicable GST but excludes road tax, TCS, RTO statutory charges, local taxes and insurance.
BMW is also offering a finance plan for the i5 LWB with monthly instalments starting at Rs 79,999 and an assured buyback value of 55% after a four-year tenure, according to the company.
BMW i5 LWB Exterior and Interior
The BMW i5 Long Wheelbase is offered with four metallic exterior paint options: Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Carbon Black and Oxide Grey.
Inside, the electric sedan comes with a fully vegan interior upholstery. The standard dual-tone cabin combination features Veganza Perforated upholstery in Copper Brown and Atlas Grey, adding to the model’s premium and contemporary interior ambience.
With its combination of a long-wheelbase design, electric powertrain, locally produced construction and chauffeur-focused rear-seat comfort, the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase is positioned as a premium electric executive sedan tailored specifically to the Indian market.

Dimensions: 5,175mm long, 2,156mm wide, 1,520mm high, with a 3,105mm wheelbase. BMW claims it is the largest car in its segment, offering a spacious cabin.
Exterior: Features BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille, 20-inch M alloy wheels, Adaptive LED headlights, LED taillights, flush door handles and an updated Hofmeister kink.
