Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z mass-market electric scooter range in India, marking the commercial rollout of its in-house developed Bharat Cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology.
The S1Z is offered in two battery configurations — 3.1kWh and 5.1kWh — priced at introductory prices of ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 (ex-showroom), respectively. Ola Electric claims the 3.1kWh version can deliver an IDC range of up to 179km, while the 5.1kWh variant offers up to 301km on a single charge.
Ola S1Z Gets Bharat Cell LFP Technology
The S1Z uses Ola Electric’s 46-series LFP cell platform, manufactured at the company’s Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. The company says local cell production will help reduce battery costs, which account for a significant portion of an EV’s overall cost, while allowing the savings to be passed on to customers.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, said the S1Z demonstrates the company’s focus on bringing its indigenous battery technology to mass-market products and expanding EV adoption across India.
Ola S1Z Features MoveOS 5
The S1Z runs on Ola Electric’s MoveOS 5 software and gets features including cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse mode and Easy Park.
The 3.1kWh variant is scheduled to begin deliveries in December 2026, while deliveries of the 5.1kWh version are expected to start in March 2027.
Ola Electric Expands Retail Network
The S1Z launch comes as Ola Electric prepares to change its retail strategy. The company plans to introduce its first partner- and dealer-operated stores, alongside its existing direct-to-consumer retail network.
With the S1Z, Ola Electric aims to strengthen its presence in the mass-market electric scooter segment while leveraging its locally developed battery technology to offer more competitive pricing.
