BMW has officially launched the second-generation M4 CS in India, pricing it at Rs. 1.89 Crore. The high-performance sports coupe was launched adding yet another thrilling model to the brand’s renowned M lineup.
The car will be available in the country as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model and can be booked at the BMW dealership network.
Mr. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “The M Division from BMW has always catered to the highest aspirations and imagination of our performance-oriented customers. The all-new BMW M4 CS continues the tradition of M special-edition models offering a distinctly sporty character along with motor racing DNA. This particularly sporty model combines superlative performance with unlimited suitability for everyday use. The all-new BMW M4 CS invites you to experience the M feeling in all its glory. The race-track ready BMW M4 CS with M xDrive is utterly unique – and here to conquer.”
The all-new BMW M4 CS is available in metallic paintworks – Black Sapphire and Brooklyn Grey. BMW Individual metallic paint finishes available as standard – Frozen Isle of Man Green and Riviera Blue. Full leather Merino Anthracite upholstery is available as standard.
The BMW M4 CS is powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine as the standard M4, but with a performance boost. The engine is tuned to deliver 550hp, which is 20hp more than the M4 Competition, thanks to an increase in turbo boost pressure from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar. While the peak torque remains at 650Nm, it is now available from 2,750rpm to 5,950rpm, extending 220rpm higher than the M4 Competition.
BMW has made several enhancements to the powertrain for better endurance during extended track sessions, including an upgraded cooling system and increased oil supply to the clutch to ensure the four-wheel-drive system maintains its performance. The powertrain also benefits from stiffer engine mounts, improving its responsiveness.
The M4 CS sheds 20kg compared to the M4 Competition, courtesy of a titanium exhaust silencer and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components like the centre console, gearbox paddles, and various interior trims. It also features lighter wheels, with 19-inch alloys in the front and 20-inch alloys at the rear. These modifications enable the M4 CS to accelerate from 0-100kph in 3.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the M4 Competition, with an electronically limited top speed of 302kph. The CS also comes equipped with BMW’s Adaptive M suspension as standard.
Aesthetically, the M4 CS distinguishes itself from the M4 Competition with yellow-tinted daytime running lights, a kidney grille with a red outline, and bronze wheels. Inside, it features M-specific graphics on the head-up display, along with a dedicated M Mode button and an M-specific Setup button on the center console, allowing easy access to the engine, chassis, steering, braking, and all-wheel-drive settings.
The interior boasts a flat-bottom Alcantara M steering wheel (optional on the M4 Competition), along with the latest iteration of BMW’s curved display, which includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, running the BMW Operating System 8.5. The M4 CS also comes equipped with M Carbon bucket seats and other unique touches, such as red ‘CS’ lettering on the center console, M seat belts, and M4 CS-branded door sills.
In terms of competition, the BMW M4 CS rivals the Audi RS5, although the RS5 is a four-door model, as well as the upcoming India-bound Mercedes-AMG C 63 S e-Performance.
