LeafyBus, an electric bus operator based in New Delhi, has teamed up with AMU to launch its inaugural fleet of 10 electric buses for intercity travel. This initiative aims to accelerate India’s shift towards green mobility, with financing provided by AMU. The buses will initially operate on high-traffic routes, including the Delhi-Dehradun corridor.
Rohan Dewan, Founder and CEO of LeafyBus, stated, “At LeafyBus, we strive to make electric travel the standard across India. Our partnership with AMU brings us closer to this goal by facilitating eco-friendly travel between cities. Together, we can offer cleaner and more efficient transportation options for everyone.”
This collaboration underscores India’s growing emphasis on sustainable transportation solutions, particularly within the electric vehicle sector. By focusing on high-demand routes, LeafyBus and AMU aim to lower the carbon footprint associated with long-distance travel while providing a cost-effective transport option for passengers.
Nehal Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Accelerated Money For U, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We are excited to support the purchase of the first batch of 10 electric buses for intercity operations by LeafyBus. By empowering LeafyBus to expand their fleet, we are enabling cleaner and more efficient transportation, positively impacting both the environment and the future of mobility. Together, we are creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.”
LeafyBus’s electric buses prioritize passenger safety and comfort. Each bus is equipped with CCTV surveillance, real-time tracking, and a dedicated “Bus Buddy” to assist passengers. To ensure top safety standards, the buses include Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), while the interiors are designed to provide a clean and comfortable travel experience.
Beyond this initial rollout, LeafyBus has partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd to procure a total of 200 electric buses, with plans to introduce 50 of these within the first year.
