Dhoot Transmission Limited acquires Multilink to strengthen automotive electronics portfolio

The deal strengthens Dhoot’s position in fast-growing segments driven by electrification and increased electronic content in vehicles.

Dhoot Transmission Limited, backed by Bain Capital, has acquired Multilink, a Bengaluru-based supplier of electrical and electronic components for two- and three-wheeler OEMs in India.

The acquisition, executed through an affiliate entity, is aimed at enhancing Dhoot’s presence in fast-growing segments driven by electrification, premiumisation, and the rising integration of electronic systems in vehicles.

Multilink manufactures a range of components including chargers, sensors, relays, and switches, and operates three production facilities in Hosur, Mysore, and Manesar.

Commenting on the development, Rahul Dhoot, Managing Director of Dhoot Transmission, said the acquisition reinforces the company’s position in the evolving two- and three-wheeler segments, where electrification and increasing electronic content are driving structural growth.

Bain Capital noted that the deal aligns with its strategy of supporting Dhoot’s transformation into a scaled, future-ready automotive components platform. Saahil Bhatia, Partner at Bain Capital, highlighted that the acquisition marks a continued focus on building capabilities in automotive electronics.

HG Vasuki, Promoter of Multilink, said the partnership will support the company’s next phase of growth by leveraging Dhoot’s scale, customer relationships, and manufacturing strengths, along with Bain Capital’s strategic backing.

Dhoot Transmission Limited has been actively expanding its electrical and electronics portfolio through acquisitions and consolidation. Earlier this year, the company announced a merger between one of its subsidiaries and FourFront, a Tier-1 supplier of customised electro-mechanical and electronic solutions to OEMs.

Advisors to the transaction included PwC as financial advisor and Trilegal as legal advisor to Dhoot, while Spice Route Legal and Aeka Advisors advised Multilink.
