Maruti Suzuki begins deliveries of India’s first WagonR Flex-Fuel Car in Delhi

Maruti Suzuki has started deliveries of the WagonR Flex-Fuel in Delhi, making India's first passenger vehicle capable of operating on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E100 available to customers.

Maruti Suzuki India has begun customer deliveries of its WagonR Flex-Fuel vehicle in Delhi, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions. Members of the Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) were among the first customers to receive the innovative model in the national capital.

The initial batch of deliveries included 13 customers, making them early adopters of India’s first passenger vehicle capable of operating on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E100. The introduction of the WagonR Flex-Fuel represents a major step in supporting the country’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported crude oil while promoting the use of domestically produced biofuels.

Over the past decade, the Government of India has steadily increased ethanol blending in petrol and continues to encourage the adoption of flex-fuel technologies that can efficiently utilize higher ethanol concentrations. Flex-fuel vehicles offer consumers greater fuel flexibility by enabling the use of varying ethanol blends, while also contributing to the growth of the domestic biofuel ecosystem.

The WagonR Flex-Fuel is a key part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader multi-pathway approach to sustainable mobility. Alongside flex-fuel technology, the company is actively pursuing cleaner transportation solutions through compressed natural gas (CNG), hybrid vehicles, and battery electric vehicles (EVs).

With the rollout of the WagonR Flex-Fuel, Maruti Suzuki aims to support India’s energy security goals while offering customers an alternative mobility solution that aligns with the country’s evolving environmental and sustainability objectives.
