E3 Electric.Ai has unveiled the Trion electric scooter, introducing a unique repair-friendly design aimed at reducing downtime and making ownership more convenient. Priced from ₹99,999 (ex-showroom), the Trion features a detachable rim integrated with its hub motor, allowing damaged wheels to be repaired at local workshops without removing the entire motor assembly or sending it back to a service centre.
According to Sanjeev P., Founder and CEO of E3 Electric.Ai, the innovation addresses a common issue faced by Indian two-wheeler owners, where bent rims caused by poor road conditions often require the complete hub motor assembly to be returned to the manufacturer. The company has developed an in-house one-piece rotor ring that works with a detachable 14-inch rim, enabling quick and cost-effective repairs while retaining the efficiency and performance benefits of a direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM).
Designed to Maximise Uptime
Sanjeev explained that in many cases, the issue lies with the wheel rather than the motor itself. By separating the rim from the motor assembly, customers can have damaged rims repaired or replaced locally, significantly reducing repair time. He emphasised that E3 Electric does not intend to build its business around service revenue but instead aims to maximise customer uptime and ownership convenience.
The company will continue to follow a dealer-led service model for core vehicle servicing, while encouraging an open service ecosystem for routine repairs. E3 plans to provide training to local mechanics, with its modular powertrain designed to simplify maintenance. The scooter’s high-voltage electronics are consolidated on one side of the vehicle, allowing technicians easier access through a single service panel.
Battery Warranty and Modular Design
The Trion comes with an 8-year or 1 lakh kilometre battery warranty. E3 clarified that removing the detachable rim does not require opening the hub motor and therefore does not affect the motor’s warranty.
The company currently works with more than 60 Tier-1 suppliers and follows an asset-light business model focused on product innovation and technology rather than extensive manufacturing assets. E3 believes this approach will allow it to continuously improve the ownership experience while keeping maintenance costs low.
E3 Electric officially launched the Trion in Bengaluru, with prices starting at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom). Its first authorised service centre in Koramangala is scheduled to open on August 15, while customer deliveries are expected to begin in September.
