Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reinforced its commitment to road safety with the successful conclusion of the Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) in Delhi. Held at KV No. 2 Cantonment, Dr. Sarvapalli Auditorium, the event featured key dignitaries, including Rajnesh Singh (Director, Ministry of Heavy Industries) and S.K. Singh (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic), alongside TKM leadership. TSEP aims to instill road safety awareness in schoolchildren, empowering them as future road safety ambassadors, aligning with TKM’s vision of achieving zero road fatalities.
Building on the success of TSEP Batch 1 in Bangalore and the Delhi event, Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) will expand with sessions in Bangalore (Feb 8) and Mumbai (Feb 11). In 2025, the initiative aims to educate over 70,000 students and 600 teachers across 140 schools, reinforcing Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s commitment to nationwide road safety. The event featured student-led activities like poster-making, skits, songs, and fact-based video presentations, fostering creative road safety solutions. An award ceremony also recognized outstanding contributions to promoting road safety awareness.
The Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) has significantly improved road safety awareness, increasing participant knowledge from 39% to 60%. To sustain impact, dedicated Road Safety Clubs have been established in participating schools, promoting peer-to-peer learning and ongoing engagement. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s holistic “Real World Safety” approach integrates safe vehicle manufacturing, user education, and traffic improvements to address India’s road safety challenges. Since 2007, TSEP has reached over 800,000 students nationwide, using its “Child to Community” model to inspire young advocates for safer roads.
TSEP employs a distinctive and impactful ABC Approach:
- Awareness: Raising awareness about road safety rules.
- Behavioural Change: Encouraging positive behavioural shifts.
- Campaigns: Engaging communities through innovative campaigns.
This comprehensive framework nurtures responsible behaviour and a lifelong commitment to safer road practices. Additionally, TSEP empowers educators by providing structured road safety training, enabling teachers to effectively guide students. The program also advocates for integrating road safety education into school curricula, ensuring sustained learning and lasting community impact.
Present at the occasion, the Chief Guest – Mr. Rajnesh Singh – Director, Ministry of Heavy Industries said, “Road safety is a critical concern in India, and it is imperative that we address it through sustained and impactful educational initiatives.
