Ultraviolette and Indian Army begin 40-Day Himalayan Expedition on X-47 Crossover

Ultraviolette and the Indian Army have begun a 4,850 km, 40-day expedition to Walong, Arunachal Pradesh, on the X-47 Crossover.

Ultraviolette and the Indian Army have commenced a 40-day Himalayan endurance expedition to Walong in Northeast India. Covering approximately 4,850 km across the Himalayan region, the Gangetic plains and the Northeast, the expedition aims to promote sustainable mobility while paying tribute to fallen soldiers.

The journey brings together the Indian Army’s values of endurance, discipline and preparedness with Ultraviolette’s focus on engineering, performance and technology. The expedition will see the Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover navigate some of India’s most challenging terrains, highlighting the potential of electric mobility across diverse geographical conditions.

Through this initiative, Ultraviolette and the Indian Army aim to celebrate the spirit of exploration, honour the sacrifices of soldiers and demonstrate the capabilities of electric two-wheelers in demanding environments.

It continues to demonstrate that electric mobility can be about more than just urban commuting or everyday transportation. It can also be about performance, exploration and the ability to undertake journeys that challenge both the machine and the rider.

The expedition was flagged off from the Manekshaw Auditorium in the presence of General Dhiraj Seth (PVSM, UYSM, AVSM), Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army, Mr. A. S. Sahney, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil), and Mr. Ajay Shanker, CFO, Ultraviolette.

Commenting on the occasion, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said,“The Indian Army represents qualities we value deeply at Ultraviolette; resilience, precision, preparedness and an unwavering ability to perform in the most demanding environments. It is a privilege for us to bring that spirit together with the engineering philosophy behind the Ultraviolette X-47. This 40-day endurance ride to Walong, in the North-East of India is therefore more than a test of distance; it is a test of machine, rider and mindset against some of the most challenging terrains in the country. The X-47 has been engineered to push boundaries and being ridden by the Indian Army gives us an opportunity to demonstrate that capability across varied terrain. We are proud to undertake this journey together and to carry the spirit of endurance, courage, and exploration all the way to Walong.”

The 40-day expedition will put the X-47 through a demanding mix of long-distance riding, challenging terrain and varied environmental conditions, taking it beyond conventional road and test environments. The journey will serve as a comprehensive endurance test of the motorcycle and its riders, challenging their ability to maintain consistent performance while demonstrating X-47’s engineering over an extended period and showcasing the capabilities of a new generation of performance electric mobility.

The X-47’s architecture brings together stability, control and dynamic performance-attributes that become critical when navigating through unforgiving and unpredictable terrain. Its engineering and integrated technological systems are designed around the rider and the demands of the expedition, delivering confidence, control and consistent performance while preserving the distinctive Ultraviolette riding experience.

The journey will culminate in Walong, Arunachal Pradesh, marking the completion of a 40-day expedition that celebrates endurance, courage, exploration and the spirit of pushing beyond boundaries.
