International Tractors Limited (ITL), the company behind Sonalika Tractors, plans to establish a 25-acre Global Research & Development Centre in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The proposed facility will serve as an advanced engineering hub focused on developing agricultural technologies and farmer-oriented solutions.
The announcement was made following a meeting between ITL management and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on August 14, 2026. According to ITL, the greenfield R&D centre will strengthen its engineering capabilities and support the development of technologies for both Indian and international markets.
The proposed centre will bring together engineering expertise and farmer insights to develop agricultural solutions tailored to different market requirements. ITL expects the facility to support high-value engineering, skill development, employment generation and technology-led industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh.
The R&D centre forms part of ITL’s broader innovation roadmap for the state. However, the company has not yet disclosed the investment amount, construction timeline or expected operational date.
Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said the company aims to create a globally benchmarked institution for agricultural research and innovation, with a focus on developing advanced technologies for farmers.
Founded in 1996, Sonalika Tractors is owned by ITL and has a presence in more than 150 countries, according to the company. ITL also operates an integrated tractor manufacturing facility and is marking 30 years of Sonalika Tractors in 2026.
