Ratan Tata, the former Chairman of Tata Sons and one of India’s most respected industrialists, passed away on Thursday at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He had been admitted following a sudden drop in blood pressure, and his condition worsened, leading to his transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU).
Ratan Naval Tata was known not only for his business leadership but also for his philanthropic contributions. Just two days before his passing, on October 7, Tata had addressed concerns about his health on social media, dismissing rumors as baseless.
“I am currently undergoing medical check-ups due to age-related conditions,” he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits,” he assured, urging the public and media not to spread misinformation.
Tata’s death signifies the end of an era for Tata Sons and India’s industrial sector. His legacy extends far beyond business, as he touched countless lives through his philanthropy and humanitarian work.
