Tata Motors reported total commercial vehicle sales of 32,850 units in May 2026, marking a 17 per cent increase compared to 28,147 units sold during the same month last year. The growth was driven by robust domestic demand across key vehicle segments, offsetting a decline in international business volumes.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales rose 19 per cent year-on-year to 30,784 units in May 2026, up from 25,872 units in May 2025. Meanwhile, international business sales declined 9 per cent to 2,066 units from 2,275 units in the corresponding period last year.
Among individual segments, small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup models recorded the highest growth, with sales increasing 30 per cent to 11,819 units. Passenger carrier sales grew 21 per cent to 5,757 units, while heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) truck sales rose 11 per cent to 7,877 units. Sales of intermediate, light, and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks increased 8 per cent year-on-year to 5,331 units.
Domestic sales of medium and heavy intermediate commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) stood at 13,679 units in May 2026, compared with 12,406 units in the same month last year, representing a 10 per cent increase. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales reached 14,596 units, up 7 per cent from 13,614 units recorded in May 2025.
The sales performance reflects continued demand across cargo transportation, passenger mobility, and logistics applications in the domestic market.
The company also recently completed its transition from TML Commercial Vehicles Limited to Tata Motors Limited following the implementation of its approved corporate restructuring scheme, marking a significant milestone in its organizational transformation.
