Kia India has launched the globally acclaimed Sorento premium three-row SUV in India at an introductory price of ₹27.99 lakh for the diesel variant, while the hybrid version is priced at ₹29.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch marks Kia’s entry into India’s premium three-row SUV segment and introduces the company’s first hybrid powertrain in the country.
The Kia Sorento is also significant globally as the first Kia model to debut the brand’s new Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities. The India-spec Sorento is the first vehicle in Kia’s global product portfolio to receive the technology.
Official deliveries of the Kia Sorento have commenced nationwide from September 4, 2026.
Kia Sorento: Built in India for India
The new Sorento is locally manufactured at Kia India’s Anantapur facility. Based on Kia’s global N3 platform, the SUV has been developed to offer improved structural safety, driving dynamics and efficiency while incorporating features and specifications tailored to the Indian market.
The Sorento measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,785 mm in height, including roof rails, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Kia claims it is the longest and widest SUV in its segment.
The SUV is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations, catering to buyers seeking a combination of premium features, spaciousness and three-row practicality.
First Kia Hybrid in India
The Sorento becomes Kia India’s first hybrid vehicle, with the hybrid powertrain combining a 1.6-litre Smartstream Turbo GDI petrol engine producing 180 PS and 265 Nm with a 65 PS electric motor generating 264 Nm.
A 2.2-litre Smartstream diesel engine is also available, producing 193 PS and 442 Nm of torque.
Both powertrain options are offered with all-wheel drive (AWD). Kia claims the Sorento is the first SUV in its segment to combine a hybrid powertrain with AWD.
Kia AI Assistant Makes Global Debut
One of the biggest highlights of the new Sorento is the introduction of the Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities.
Making its global debut on the Sorento, the technology represents Kia’s first introduction of Real-Time Generative AI across its global vehicle line-up. The system is designed to provide a more conversational and intelligent in-car interaction experience.
The Sorento also gets Kia Connect 2.0, offering more than 85 connected-car features, along with OTA software updates for up to 30 controllers, Digital Key 2.0, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Remote Vehicle Immobilization.
Premium Comfort and Convenience
Kia has equipped the Sorento with a long list of premium features, including second-row ventilated seats, a feature Kia says is a first in the segment. Ventilated front seats with three-step cooling are also available.
The SUV offers a range of premium comfort and convenience features, including Relaxation Seats, Ergo Motion Driver Seat, Boss Mode, a panoramic display and sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone connectivity, Digital IRVM, Smart Dashcam, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a 220V power outlet and Head-Up Display. The second-row ventilated seats are available in both six- and seven-seat configurations.
30 ADAS Features and up to 10 Airbags
Safety remains a key focus of the new Sorento. The SUV comes equipped with 30 ADAS Level 2+ features and up to 10 airbags, supported by Kia’s 26 Standard Safety Package.
The SUV’s safety and driver-assistance technology is complemented by features such as a 360-degree camera and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Speaking at the launch, Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, said the Sorento represents an important milestone for the company as it enters the premium three-row SUV segment in India.
“The arrival of the Kia Sorento represents a defining milestone in Kia India’s journey as we enter the premium three-row SUV for the first time,” Lee said, highlighting the SUV’s hybrid powertrain and new AI technology.
With local production, a choice of hybrid and diesel powertrains, AWD capability, three-row seating and an extensive technology package, the Kia Sorento expands the company’s presence into a more premium segment of the Indian SUV market.
