Kia Corporation has unveiled the exterior design of its PV5 Passenger and Cargo models ahead of the brand’s second Kia EV Day, set to take place in Tarragona, Spain, later this month.
First introduced as the Concept PV5 at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the mid-sized PV5 is the debut model under Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global business strategy.
Engineered to redefine space and mobility, the PV5 integrates Kia’s cutting-edge EV technology to cater to a diverse customer base. Its innovative modularity offers unparalleled flexibility and customization to meet various needs.
Kia will launch the PV5 in multiple configurations, including Passenger and Cargo variants. Additional specialized conversion options will be revealed at the 2025 Kia EV Day, further expanding the lineup.
The Kia PV5’s contemporary design transcends traditional light commercial vehicles, featuring a fresh aesthetic that emphasizes flexibility and customization through a modular approach.
“While the PV5 is offered in three different body styles to provide innovative solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, they all embody the same consistent design values inspired by Kia’s design philosophy, ‘Opposites United,’” said Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design. “Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”
The Kia PV5 Passenger features a refined geometric profile with a large window area for enhanced visibility, framed by bold black glass surrounds. Black wheel arch claddings and rocker panels add a rugged, SUV-like character, seamlessly connecting the high-tech upper cabin with the sturdy lower body.
Signature lighting, sleek black accents, and a strong profile line enhance its modern, robust aesthetic. At the rear, a chamfered D-pillar and a single lift-up tailgate contribute to its functional design, while the extended body color creates a cohesive, horizontal stance.
The Kia PV5 Cargo retains the geometric design of the PV5 Passenger but features a boxier profile for enhanced space efficiency. Its clean, modern aesthetics set it apart from traditional light commercial vehicles.
Key differences include twin side-opening tailgate doors for improved practicality and easy loading. The rear design complements the sleek side lines, maximizing load capacity and creating a spacious feel.
At the 2025 Kia EV Day on February 24 in Tarragona, Spain, Kia will unveil the full PV5 lineup, including derivative models and conversion options. Interior details and product offerings will be announced on February 27, with an event video available on Kia’s YouTube channel in March.
