VinFast understands that a car is more than just a means of transportation—it’s an extension of its driver’s identity. With this in mind, the company has created the VF 7, a premium all-electric SUV that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with a striking, futuristic design to establish an instant connection with its owner.
While many view cars simply as a way to travel from point A to point B, for others, they are a reflection of personality and lifestyle. A OnePoll survey in the U.S. revealed that nearly two-fifths of drivers talk to their cars, and 60 percent consider them part of the family. Acknowledging this deep emotional bond, automakers are increasingly designing vehicles that resonate on a personal level.
VinFast, a rising player in the electric vehicle market, has embraced this philosophy in developing the VF 7. This five-seater SUV, created in collaboration with Torino Design, represents over 80,000 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, resulting in a vehicle that not only stands out on the road but also forms an immediate and lasting connection with its driver.
“VF 7 was born to keep the soul of a concept car alive in a passenger vehicle,” shared Paolo Smeriglio, the head of project management at Torino Design.
Based in Italy and internationally recognized for its work, Torino Design specializes in automotive innovation. With a keen focus on merging engineering with aesthetics, the firm partners with brands to bring futuristic concepts to real life. This expertise is clearly reflected in the VF 7.
The design of this all-electric premium sport car from VinFast is built around an “Asymmetric Aerospace” theme that draws inspiration from space and aviation. The hood angles downward like something from a futuristic spacecraft, and dynamic creases run along the doors.
Smeriglio explained that “Asymmetric Aerospace” is as much about style as performance. He noted that triangular motifs, reminiscent of modern aircraft, are used to suggest agility, while the rear of the vehicle is shaped for aerodynamics—emphasizing the thoughtful engineering behind every detail.
“Aesthetically, our challenge was to design something that remains timelessly beautiful while still being bold and distinctly futuristic,” said Smeriglio.
He went on to explain how the front corners of the VF 7 are rounded to promote smooth airflow, and how the low-profile hood seamlessly transitions into the windshield to reduce air pressure. Meanwhile, the roofline slopes gently toward the rear, integrating a sleek, elongated spoiler that channels airflow to create turbulence-reducing vortices above and behind the car. Hidden door handles and a concealed rear wiper further enhance aerodynamics, adding to the VF 7’s elegant and refined look.
Every design decision, from the gently sloping windshield to the small rear spoiler, was made with aerodynamics in mind. Adjustments to the body’s width and the design of the fenders contribute to better stability while maintaining the vehicle’s visual appeal.
One owner remarked, “The VF 7 is a car with a golden ratio. It’s stunning from the hood and front to the body and rear,” highlighting its pleasing proportions.
Inside the cabin, the “Asymmetric Aerospace” concept continues. The design features a D-Cut steering wheel, a large display that’s angled toward the driver to enhance ergonomics, and a console with button-style controls.
Passengers, too, are treated to an experience that marries simplicity with luxury. The spacious cabin offers comfort without compromising style. Premium materials, elegant lighting, and a clever use of space provide a sense of openness and refinement.
“The VF 7’s cabin is a revelation. It shatters all the conventional rules of car interior design, truly making it a work of art,” said Hồng Tiến, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, after test-driving the VF 7.
Indian drivers, known for their discerning tastes, may soon appreciate how the VF 7 turns a routine drive into a unique experience. This is a car that combines passionate aesthetics with solid engineering, offering a fresh perspective on what a car can be—a trusted companion for those who see travel as more than just a daily chore.
