The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has introduced the latest addition to its acclaimed FLAME GUARD series of flame-retardant conveyor belts. The new model, FLAME GUARD ECO, is designed to deliver enhanced energy efficiency alongside proven fire-resistant performance.
The FLAME GUARD ECO was specifically developed for coal transport lines at ports and thermal power plants, where fire safety demands the use of flame-retardant conveyor belts. Leveraging technology from its ECOTEX series—renowned for world-class energy efficiency—Yokohama Rubber engineered a new rubber compound that minimizes energy loss by reducing belt deformation over rollers. This results in lower running resistance and decreased power consumption. By combining flame resistance with enhanced energy efficiency, the FLAME GUARD ECO not only improves operational safety but also helps cut energy costs and reduce environmental impact through lower CO₂ emissions.
The FLAME GUARD series provides a crucial self-extinguishing safety feature. This versatile range of conveyor belts meets various operational needs, offering combinations like flame retardancy with superior wear resistance, resistance to heavy oils, resistance to medium and high temperatures. For enhanced efficiency, the FLAME GUARD ECO model minimizes resistance during roller passage.
In Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), the company’s medium-term management plan for fiscal years 2024–2026, Yokohama Rubber aims to solidify its leading share in Japan’s conveyor belt market, one of the core products in the MB Segment’s industrial products business.
