e-Vidyut, backed by Pontaq, launches Electric Retrofit Revolution for Three-Wheelers in Maharashtra

e-Vidyut has launched the commercial rollout of its patented retrofitment technology in Maharashtra, with plans to expand to six more states over the next two years. On day one, 30 autorickshaws were registered, and the company targets retrofitting at least 50,000 autos within two years.

In a major step toward India’s clean mobility future, e-Vidyut, a Pontaq-backed electric mobility startup, has commenced the commercial rollout of its patented retrofitment technology in Maharashtra. The company stands out as one of only two in India to receive ARAI certification, and uniquely, it is the only one certified for both two-stroke and four-stroke three-wheeler autorickshaws.

On its first day of launch, the initiative saw 30 autorickshaw registrations, highlighting strong demand for retrofit solutions. With over 3.5 million autorickshaws across India aged between 5 to 15 years, e-Vidyut’s innovation paves the way for a new era in clean mobility—bringing cost savings, environmental benefits, and improved livelihoods to drivers and communities nationwide.

The kit offers a certified range of 132 km per charge, reduces daily fuel expenses by up to 70%, and prevents over 1.5 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per vehicle annually making every driver an active contributor to India’s green mobility transition.
