Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has announced that its Managing Director and CEO, Satyakam Arya, has been designated as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Hino Motors. The appointment will take effect on April 1, 2026, pending board and regulatory approvals tied to the planned integration of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors under the ARCHION alliance, jointly established by Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corporation.
Strong Leadership and Proven Performance
During his tenure at DICV, Arya demonstrated visionary leadership, driving growth and transformation across the organization. Under his stewardship, DICV expanded its dealership network from 182 to over 385 locations across India, achieving significant improvements in profitability, customer base, and brand trust.
Arya also steered DICV’s sustainability journey — transitioning the company to 100% renewable energy and securing India’s first IGBC Green Factory Building V2 certification. His leadership oversaw the introduction of several key product and operational milestones, including the TorqShift automatic tippers, the HX Series, and the BS VI OBD2 transition, ensuring compliance with the latest emission and safety standards such as ECE R29-03 cabin safety regulations.
Commitment to Quality and Culture
A key highlight of Arya’s leadership was the implementation of the Total Quality Management (TQM) initiative known as the “BharatBenz Way.” This program fostered a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee empowerment throughout the organization.
Looking Ahead: A Decade of Transformation
Commenting on his new role, Arya said: “India’s commercial vehicle industry is entering a decade of transformation driven by infrastructure investment, technology, and sustainable mobility. I’m confident that DICV will continue its strong growth trajectory as it supports the evolution of global transportation.”
Achim Puchert, Member of the Board of Management, Daimler Truck Holding AG, congratulated Arya on his appointment, highlighting his strong leadership and track record: “Satyakam Arya has consistently demonstrated strategic foresight and the ability to drive impactful change. His leadership experience positions him well to lead Hino Motors through its next chapter of global growth and integration.”
Next Steps for DICV
DICV confirmed that succession planning for its India operations is underway, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
With this transition, Arya becomes one of the few Indian executives to lead a major Japanese automotive manufacturer on the global stage — underscoring the deepening collaboration between Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corporation in shaping the future of sustainable commercial mobility.
