Tata Harrier sales cross 150,000: EV Surge and upcoming Petrol Variant set to boost demand further

Tata Harrier sales cross 150,000 units as the Harrier EV boosts demand ahead of the new petrol Harrier launch; record monthly sales and strong FY2026 momentum position the SUV for its best-ever annual performance.

The Tata Harrier midsize SUV has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 150,000 cumulative domestic sales. Built on the Land Rover-derived Omega platform and originally powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, the Harrier line-up expanded significantly with the launch of the Harrier EV in June 2025—fueling a strong revival in demand ahead of the upcoming petrol Harrier launch.

Harrier Crosses 156,000 Units Since 2019 Launch

According to industry data, Tata Harrier sales from January 2019 to October 2025 total 156,575 units.

  • FY2023 was the Harrier’s best year yet, with 30,635 units sold (up 5% YoY).
  • Sales declined 19% in FY2024 (24,701 units).
  • In FY2025, volumes dropped again by 23% to 18,989 units.

FY2026 Brings a Strong Comeback

The 2025–26 fiscal year is showing a promising shift. Combined sales of the diesel Harrier and Harrier EV reached 17,132 units between April–November 2025, marking a 41% YoY growth. The upcoming petrol Harrier, set to launch on December 9, is expected to accelerate this upward trajectory.

Harrier EV Drives Record Monthly Sales

The Harrier has witnessed its strongest demand surge since June 2025 following the EV launch built on Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture, featuring optional all-wheel drive—a rarity for Tata in recent years.

Between April–October 2025, Harrier diesel + Harrier EV sales totaled 17,132 units, an impressive 41% jump over April–October 2024 (12,148 units). Notably, 81% of these sales came in the last four months, driven significantly by EV demand.

In October 2025 alone, the Harrier contributed:

  • 7% of Tata Motors’ record passenger vehicle dispatches (61,134 units)
  • 9% of the company’s highest UV dispatches (47,318 units)

Petrol Harrier to Debut with Tata’s New ‘Hyperion’ Turbo Engine

For the first time since its launch, the Harrier will get a petrol powertrain. The new model will be powered by Tata’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, part of the brand’s Hyperion engine family. This engine will first debut on the new Tata Sierra, followed by the Harrier.

The petrol Harrier will strengthen Tata’s position against key petrol rivals from MG, Hyundai, Mahindra, and Jeep.

Will the Harrier Break its Annual Sales Record?

The Harrier’s best-ever annual performance stands at 30,635 units in FY2023. With five months remaining in FY2026, the SUV needs 13,504 more units to surpass that figure. Given the strong EV momentum and the imminent petrol launch, the Harrier is expected to cross 5,000 monthly units for the first time, possibly within the next couple of months.
