Hyundai ELEXIO secures Five-Star ANCAP Safety Rating

ANCAP testing protocols are aligned with the evaluation framework of European New Car Assessment Programme, one of the automotive industry’s most comprehensive safety assessment systems.

Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new Hyundai ELEXIO electric midsize SUV has achieved a maximum five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), highlighting the vehicle’s strong occupant protection and advanced safety performance.

ANCAP conducts independent safety assessments using testing protocols aligned with the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), widely regarded as among the automotive industry’s most comprehensive and rigorous safety evaluation frameworks.

Under ANCAP’s 2023–2025 assessment criteria, ELEXIO demonstrated high levels of protection for adult and child occupants while also delivering strong results in safeguarding vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists.

Advanced Safety Technologies at the Core

The ELEXIO’s safety credentials are supported by a comprehensive suite of Hyundai SmartSense™ driver assistance and active safety technologies offered as standard equipment.

Key safety features include:

  • Nine-Airbag System: A standard configuration featuring nine airbags, including a front centre airbag and extended side curtain airbags designed to enhance occupant protection during collisions.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2.0): Detects vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and powered two-wheelers, with braking intervention support during complex driving scenarios such as junction crossings and reversing manoeuvres.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Provides lane monitoring and steering assistance to help maintain stable vehicle positioning.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): Rear-side detection technology that supports safer lane changes through alerts and automatic braking intervention when required.
  • Family-Focused Safety Engineering: Precisely tuned suspension and braking performance, including a dedicated Family Brake Mode, designed to improve vehicle stability, passenger comfort, and driver confidence.
  • Advanced Body Structure: A reinforced 720-degree protective body structure incorporating 77.5 percent high-strength steel to maximise crash energy absorption and occupant protection.

Strong Performance Across Safety Testing Categories

During independent ANCAP evaluation, the ELEXIO recorded strong results across all key safety assessment areas:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: Delivered robust performance in frontal and side-impact crash tests, supported by structural integrity and a centre airbag designed to reduce occupant interaction.
  • Child Occupant Protection: Achieved ‘Good’ ratings for six- and ten-year-old child dummies, supported by ISOFix mounting points and top tether anchorages across rear seating positions.
  • Vulnerable Road User Protection: Demonstrated effective detection and response capabilities for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, including complex turning scenarios.
  • Safety Assist Systems: Advanced active safety technologies such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, lane support systems, and intelligent speed assistance performed strongly across multiple test conditions.

The five-star ANCAP rating further reinforces Hyundai Motor Company’s commitment to integrating advanced safety technologies and high protection standards across its expanding electric vehicle portfolio.
