Mahindra Group has appointed former Unilever executive Purnima Lamba as its Chief Brand Officer, effective September 1, as the company aims to strengthen its global brand strategy and enhance its digital and consumer-focused communication efforts.
Lamba brings nearly 25 years of experience at Unilever, having worked across India, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. In her new role, she will oversee Mahindra’s corporate brand and communications strategy while ensuring brand consistency across the group’s diverse businesses, according to the company’s exchange filing released on Wednesday.
The appointment comes as Mahindra accelerates expansion across several key sectors, including electric SUVs, hospitality, financial services, farm equipment and technology, while also working toward building a stronger and more unified global brand identity.
Commenting on the appointment, Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah said, “Her global experience, strategic thinking, bold creativity, and deep consumer insight make her an ideal leader to further strengthen the Mahindra brand.”
Mahindra highlighted Lamba’s expertise in developing tech-enabled beauty experiences and pioneering digital media models, capabilities that are becoming increasingly important as Indian conglomerates focus on younger, digitally connected consumers and international growth opportunities.
Lamba holds both B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She will also join Mahindra’s senior management team from September 1.
