Honda launches New City and debuts ZR-V e:HEV Hybrid SUV in India

The launch also signals a major milestone for Honda in India as the company strengthens its premium and electrified vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the globally successful ZR-V e:HEV hybrid SUV.

Honda Cars India Ltd., one of India’s leading premium car manufacturers, has officially launched the New Honda City while also showcasing the India debut of its global hybrid SUV, the all-new Honda ZR-V e:HEV.

Positioned as “Two Sporty Icons,” both models highlight Honda’s legacy of sporty styling, engineering excellence, advanced technology, and refined driving dynamics. The new offerings are aimed at customers seeking premium design, engaging performance, and a sophisticated driving experience.

The occasion also marks an important milestone for Honda in the Indian market with the introduction of the globally acclaimed Honda ZR-V e:HEV, bringing Honda’s premium hybrid SUV technology to India for the first time.

The new Honda City continues its iconic legacy with enhanced sporty styling, modern sophistication, enriches interiors with new features and Honda’s signature engaging driving dynamics. The model will be available in both Petrol and e:HEV Strong Hybrid variants, offering customers a choice between Refined Petrol Performance and Advanced Electrified Mobility.

The All New Honda ZR-V will be company’s new flagship SUV for Indian market. Globally recognised for its striking and sophisticated SUV styling, exhilarating performance, remarkable fuel efficiency and premium craftsmanship, the ZR-V comes with Honda’s advanced 2.0L e:HEV Sports Hybrid powertrain making it one of the most advanced and sporty hybrid SUVs in the premium SUV segment. The model has received strong success in global markets with cumulative sales exceeding 8 lakh units since 2022 and is targeted at discerning Indian customers seeking a distinct and aspirational SUV experience.

New Honda City ‘All New Vibe’

The New Honda City has been introduced with the grand concept of “Sharpen,” focusing on delivering enhanced sporty styling, premium sophistication, and an engaging driving experience. The sedan now measures 4,594 mm in length, making it the longest sedan in its segment, while featuring a sharper aerodynamic design.

The exterior receives a completely redesigned front fascia with Blade Eye Signature LED lighting, Bi-LED projector headlamps, connected light bar, integrated LED DRLs, sporty bumper design, and new Matrix-Mesh grille styling. At the rear, the sedan gets Z-Edge wraparound LED tail lamps, a sporty trunk lip spoiler, and refreshed bumper detailing. New 16-inch dual-tone Aero Blade diamond-cut alloy wheels and the addition of Crystal Black Pearl colour further enhance its premium appeal.

Inside, the New Honda City features luxurious ivory and black dual-tone interiors, a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, USB-C charging ports, and a 360-degree camera system.

Honda continues to offer advanced safety with the Honda SENSING ADAS suite, including Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

The sedan is available with two powertrain options. The strong hybrid e:HEV system produces a combined 126 PS and 253 Nm torque while delivering a fuel efficiency of 27.26 km/l. The 1.5-litre petrol engine generates 121 PS and 145 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed CVT gearbox, offering fuel efficiency of up to 17.97 km/l.

Honda is offering the City in SV, V, ZX, and ZX+ variants, while the e:HEV is available exclusively in the ZX+ trim. Prices for the New Honda City start at ₹11.99 lakh and go up to ₹20.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Customer deliveries have already commenced across Honda dealerships in India.

All New Honda ZR-V – Hybrid Unleashed

The all-new Honda ZR-V has officially made its India debut, expanding Honda’s hybrid vehicle lineup in the country. Built around the concept of “Brilliant Liberation,” the premium SUV combines sporty styling, advanced hybrid technology, refined interiors, and engaging driving dynamics.

Positioned as a sophisticated yet sporty SUV, the ZR-V features a bold exterior design with high ground clearance, sleek aerodynamic styling, slim LED lighting elements, sporty 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust finishers, and a strong road presence. The SUV measures 4,567 mm in length and offers a spacious, premium cabin with an all-black interior theme, leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, dual-zone climate control, and advanced ambient lighting.

Powering the ZR-V is Honda’s 2.0-litre e:HEV strong hybrid system paired with a dual-motor setup and e-CVT transmission. The hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of 184 PS and 315 Nm torque, while offering a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.79 km/l. The system seamlessly switches between EV, Hybrid, and Engine drive modes, with additional Normal, Sport, and Eco driving modes available for different driving conditions.

The SUV is equipped with MacPherson front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, and Electric Power Steering to deliver confident handling, stability, and a sedan-like driving experience. Honda has also focused heavily on visibility and practicality, with reduced blind spots, versatile storage spaces, and up to 1,313 litres of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded.

In terms of technology, the ZR-V gets a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.2-inch fully digital TFT instrument cluster, wireless charging, USB Type-A and Type-C ports, and a premium 12-speaker Bose surround sound system.

Comfort and convenience features include powered front seats with memory function, paddle shifters for regenerative braking, hands-free powered tailgate, electronic parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, and ambient cabin lighting.

Safety is a major highlight, with Honda SENSING ADAS features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification. The SUV also comes with eight airbags, 360-degree camera, hill descent control, Vehicle Stability Assist, ISOFIX mounts, and all-wheel disc brakes.

The Honda ZR-V will be offered in four exterior colours — Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl. Imported into India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), bookings for the SUV have now commenced at Honda dealerships, while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from July 2026.
