FICCI Road Safety Awards 2026: Nominations open, apply by August 16

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has announced the call for nominations for the 8th edition of the FICCI Road Safety Awards 2026. The prestigious awards aim to recognise and celebrate individuals, institutions and organisations that have made consistent, significant and innovative contributions towards improving road safety in India.

The awards provide a platform to acknowledge impactful road safety initiatives and highlight best practices that can help create safer roads and encourage responsible road-use practices across the country.

Through the FICCI Road Safety Awards 2026, FICCI seeks to honour exemplary efforts that have contributed meaningfully to reducing road accidents, improving road safety awareness and promoting innovative solutions in the sector.

Crisil is the Knowledge Partner for the 8th edition of the FICCI Road Safety Awards.

FICCI is inviting eligible individuals, institutions and organisations to submit their nominations and showcase their contributions towards building a safer road ecosystem in India.

The categories are as follows:

1. Excellence in ENGINEERING
   (Celebrates excellence in design and implementation of physical infrastructure and vehicle technology that prioritises road safety)
2. Excellence in ENFORCEMENT
   (Honours outstanding initiatives in fair, effective and consistent enforcement regulations such as traffic laws)
3. Excellence in EDUCATION (Awareness)
   (Acknowledges initiatives aimed at raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility and a shift in public behaviour and mindset towards roads safety)
4. Excellence in EMERGENCY CARE
   (Recognises initiatives that have improved the ‘post-crash’ care and the ‘Golden Hour’ outcomes for road accident victims)
5. Excellence in ESTABLISHMENT (Institutional & Policy Framework)
   (Recognises foundational work in creating robust systems, policies and organisational culture dedicated to road safety)

Evaluation Framework:
Nominations are assessed by the jury against a structured, 100-point evaluation framework covering the following parameters:

• Impact of the Initiative (30 marks) The most heavily weighted parameter, this looks at the measurable outcomes the initiative has delivered, such as a quantified change in a relevant safety KPI, along with the nature and depth of the benefits created — ranging from mass messaging to long-term behavioural or physical training interventions — and the number of citizens meaningfully impacted.
• Coverage by the Initiative (10 marks) This evaluates the geographical spread of the initiative, from a single city to reach across multiple cities, states, or even international locations, recognising initiatives with broader reach.
• Implementation Duration (10 marks) This assesses the maturity of the initiative, from concept and pilot stage through to sustained implementation of ten years or more, favouring initiatives with a longer track record of impact.
• Demonstration of Delivery & Recognition (10 marks) This considers the evidence of on-ground delivery, including written testimonials from officials and participants, as well as external validation such as media coverage, articles, photographs, and videos of the initiative.
• Ease of Scalability & Replicability (10 marks) This examines how easily the initiative can be expanded or replicated in other locations, with initiatives that can scale without additional cost or effort scoring highest.
• Uniqueness, Innovation & Creativity (10 marks) This recognises initiatives that bring a distinctive or innovative approach, whether within their category or across the broader field of road safety.
• Jury Discretion (20 marks) The jury panel retains discretionary marks to account for the overall quality, credibility, and merit of the nomination based on its collective expertise.

The nominations will be reviewed by an eminent Jury panel and the winners will be honoured at the Road Safety Conclave & Awards in October 2026 in New Delhi.
