Maruti Suzuki India has announced another price increase, with prices of selected models set to rise by up to ₹20,000 from September 2026. The company said the latest revision is aimed at partially offsetting continued increases in input costs and the prevailing inflationary pressure.
According to the company, it has been undertaking various cost-reduction measures to minimise the impact of higher input prices. However, with the adverse cost environment continuing, Maruti Suzuki said it has been compelled to pass on a portion of the additional costs to customers.
The latest announcement marks the third price revision by Maruti Suzuki in 2026. The automaker had previously announced a price hike of up to ₹30,000 across its model range in May, which came into effect in June, citing sustained increases in input costs and inflationary pressures.
In its intimation to the stock exchanges, Maruti Suzuki said, “In view of the continuous sustained increase in input costs, the Company has decided to increase the prices on selected models by up to ₹20,000.” The company added that the exact quantum of the increase will vary depending on the model and that the revised prices will take effect during September.
Maruti Suzuki had also announced another price increase of up to ₹30,000, effective August 2026, as input costs continued to remain elevated. The latest revision comes as automakers across the industry contend with higher commodity prices and other input costs, putting pressure on margins and vehicle affordability.
The company said it has been making continuous efforts to absorb the additional costs through internal cost-reduction initiatives. However, it noted that persistent inflationary pressures and an unfavourable cost environment have limited its ability to absorb the entire increase.
The latest price hike also comes at the start of the crucial festive demand season, when automakers typically look to capitalise on stronger vehicle purchases while balancing profitability and customer affordability. Retail demand remained healthy in August, although rising costs and affordability concerns continue to remain key considerations for manufacturers and dealerships heading into the festive period.
