MAHLE will showcase thermal management solutions for diesel, battery, hybrid, electric and hydrogen-powered rail vehicles at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. The company will highlight a Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) for locomotives and a combined cooling system for electric multiple units (EMUs).
The BTMS is designed to precisely regulate the temperature of high-performance batteries used in electric locomotives, helping improve performance, service life and safety under demanding operating conditions.
For electric multiple units, MAHLE will showcase a compact combined cooling system that manages the thermal requirements of multiple vehicle systems, including traction motors and transformers. The system is designed to deliver high energy efficiency, low weight and reliable operation.

In addition to the BTMS and combined cooling system, MAHLE will display fin/tube coolers and customised cooling plates for high-performance applications, including traction converters and battery systems. These components provide precise temperature control, which is critical to the performance, safety and service life of electric rail systems.
Expanding Beyond Automotive
Rail transport is a key growth area for MAHLE as the company expands its business beyond traditional automotive applications. With rail cooling manufacturing facilities across three continents, MAHLE is leveraging its global capabilities to develop solutions for markets beyond road mobility.
The company has consolidated its non-automotive activities under its Industrial and Special Solutions division, integrating sales, development and operational functions to accelerate the development of customised thermal management solutions.
MAHLE will exhibit at InnoTrans 2026 in Hall 18, Stand 460.
