Volvo CE launches 65-Tonne EC650 Excavator at Bauma CONEXPO India 2026

Volvo CE India has launched the EC650, a 65-tonne-class mining excavator powered by a 435 hp Volvo D13E engine. The machine will be available for immediate deliveries and through Volvo CE’s Equipment-as-a-Service model.

Volvo Construction Equipment India has commercially launched the EC650, a 65-tonne-class mining excavator, at Bauma CONEXPO India 2026, expanding its heavy-equipment portfolio for mining and mass-excavation applications.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) India has commercially launched the EC650 excavator at Bauma CONEXPO India 2026. Positioned in the 65-tonne class, the new excavator is designed for demanding mining and mass-excavation applications.

The EC650 is powered by a 435 hp Volvo D13E engine and features a heavy-duty undercarriage, boom and arm, supported by advanced hydraulic systems. According to Volvo CE, the machine has been developed with a focus on durability, productivity and fuel efficiency for intensive mining operations.

The EC650 is available for immediate deliveries to mining customers and will also be offered through Volvo CE’s Equipment-as-a-Service (EaaS) model.

Connected Services and Equipment Support

Volvo CE said the EC650 will be supported by a range of connected services and productivity solutions aimed at improving equipment uptime and overall site performance.

The support ecosystem includes repair and maintenance agreements, connected services, productivity solutions and application-specific offerings, allowing customers to manage machine performance and operational requirements more effectively.

Volvo CE Showcases Wider Equipment Portfolio

Alongside the EC650, Volvo CE is showcasing its 20-tonne excavator range, comprising the EC210, EC215 and EC220. These machines are targeted at applications such as road construction, urban construction, quarrying and river-bed mining.

The company’s broader display also includes the EC300 excavator, SD110 and DD90 compactors, and L120 Electric Wheel Loader.

Volvo CE’s mining-focused range at the event includes the EC480, EC650 and L150, highlighting the company’s equipment offering for heavy-duty mining and material-handling applications.

Focus on India’s Infrastructure Growth

The showcase forms part of Volvo CE India’s ‘Aaj Banayein Kal’ campaign, which highlights India’s infrastructure development and the role of contractors, operators and equipment users in building future infrastructure.

Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director, Volvo Construction Equipment India, said the EC650 has been developed to address the requirements of India’s increasingly intensive mining operations, with reliability and fuel efficiency among its key focus areas.

Volvo CE has also previously announced an investment in its Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which is focused on research and development, localisation and product innovation for both India and global markets.

The EC650 launch further strengthens Volvo CE India’s presence in the heavy mining equipment segment while expanding its product and service offering for India’s evolving construction and infrastructure requirements.
