Statiq, in collaboration with GLIDA and Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, has inaugurated the first of 20 public EV charging stations planned across the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam area, marking the beginning of a wider rollout of public charging infrastructure across the city. The initiative is being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model to expand access to convenient and affordable charging facilities for EV users.
The first phase will comprise 100 charging points, which will be available for public use and developed around a consumer-centric model. Charging services will be offered at nominal cost, with the aim of making public charging more accessible to residents, daily commuters and visitors. Under the PPP arrangement, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is providing land for the charging infrastructure, while private partners are responsible for developing and operating the facilities.
The inauguration was attended by Smt. Sunita Dayal, Hon’ble Mayor, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam; Shri Vikramaditya Singh Malik, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam; Deepak Paliwal, CEO, GLIDA; Akshay Ahuja, AVP – Business, Statiq; along with Hon’ble Councillors and senior officials of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam. The Mayor and Municipal Commissioner also addressed the media during the event.
The initiative comes as Ghaziabad works to strengthen the infrastructure needed to support electric mobility. Greater availability of public charging facilities can make EV use more practical for residents and daily commuters, while supporting the city’s broader efforts to promote cleaner mobility.
Smt. Sunita Dayal, Hon’ble Mayor, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, said, “For electric vehicles to become a practical choice for more people, charging facilities need to be available where the public can easily access them. Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is developing 100 charging points across 20 locations in the first phase, with the facilities being made available for public use at a nominal cost. The focus is on creating a consumer-centric and organised charging experience across different parts of the city. As an NCR city, Ghaziabad also has to address multiple factors that contribute to pollution, and promoting cleaner mobility is one part of the broader measures being undertaken by the Nagar Nigam to improve the urban environment.”
Shri Vikramaditya Singh Malik, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, said, “The Uttar Pradesh EV Policy provides a framework for encouraging electric mobility, but its implementation at the city level requires supporting infrastructure. Through this PPP initiative, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam has made land available for the charging facilities, while private partners are responsible for developing and operating them. This model allows the civic body and industry to contribute their respective capabilities towards building the infrastructure required for a growing EV ecosystem. Alongside this initiative, the Nagar Nigam is also undertaking measures related to road improvement, paving, dust control and increasing green cover as part of its broader environmental efforts.”

The initiative brings together civic support and private-sector expertise to strengthen Ghaziabad’s public EV charging ecosystem. With the first phase focused on expanding charging availability across the city, the partnership aims to make public charging more accessible for EV users and support the continued development of electric mobility infrastructure in the region.
