Audi launches Q7 SUV in two variants

Luxury carmaker Audi on Thursday, 3rd February announced the launch of the next-generation Q7 SUV in India. Price starts at INR 79,99,000 (ex-showroom). The locally assembled vehicle will come with eight airbags and is available in two variants of Q7 Premium Plus and Q7 Technology priced at INR 79.99 lakh and INR 88.33 lakh (exshowroom), respectively.

The new model is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 TFSI engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, churning out 340 hp and 500 Nm torque. With a top speed of 250 km/hr, the Audi Q7 accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in a quick 5.9 seconds.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, told reporters that the Indian luxury car market is expected to be “growing well” this year, but it may take another year or so for the segment to reach the previous peak of around 40,000 units.

The ‘Q’ range of SUVs contribute to around 45% of Audi India’s overall sales, with the Q7 enjoying a major share in it, he added, “The Audi Q7 has been an icon of our Q-range for several years and we are confident that the latest model will be as successful with its new look and upgraded features. The Audi Q7’s versatile performance, both on and off the road, is a key trait that makes it stand apart from all others,” Dhillon said.

“The year 2022 will see the launch of high-volume models, in addition to some top-end products. With a diverse product portfolio, we are looking forward to a strong sales performance during the year 2022,” he said. During the last year, the carmaker launched five electric models in the country. Talking about them, Dhillon said there was an encouraging consumer response to its products and that all EVs models are sold out till March this year.

In January this year, the carmaker had begun pre-bookings for the Q7 SUV at an initial booking amount of INR 500,000. The seven-seater Q7 is equipped with features such as the Audi Virtual Cockpit, Smartphone interface (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), remote MMI touch control panel with 21.84 cm (8.6”) color display, Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist, Park Assist Plus with 360° 3D surround camera.

Other features include Adaptive windscreen wipers with integrated washer nozzles, Comfort key with sensor-based boot lid operation, MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch response, Bang & Olufsen premium 3D sound system, Air Ionizer and Aromatization. The model comes with seven drive modes of Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Efficiency, Off-Road, All-Road and Individual.

It is available in five exterior colours of Carrara White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Samurai Grey and Floret Silver and two interior colors of Saiga Beige and Okapi Brown. Audi India will provide standard 2-year warranty that can be extended up to 7 years and 5- year Road Side Assistance (RSA) that can be extended up to 10 years.
