Tata Motors announced on August 18th that the company has scored an order from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) of 921 electric buses. Under the larger tender by CESL, Tata Motors will supply, and maintain 12-metre electric buses for a period of 12 years, as per the contract. Tata Starbus is an indigenously developed vehicle with best-in-class features designed for comfortable and sustainable travel.
Ms. G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation on this delightful event said that they are glad to hand over the order to Tata Motors. He also added that this order is paramount for Bengaluru’s growing need for sustainable, clean urban mass mobility.
Tata Motors has already received orders for 1,180 electric buses from WBTC and 1,500 electric buses from DTC respectively in the last one month. Tata Motors’ state-of-the-art research and development facilities have steadily worked to engineer innovative mobility solutions powered by alternate fuel technology, including battery-electric, hybrid, CNG, LNG and Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.
