All-New Lexus ES set to debut at Auto Shanghai 2025 on April 23

As Lexus' global flagship, the new ES embodies advanced electrification technologies while further elevating the model’s hallmark quietness and ride comfort. Full details will be unveiled during a press conference at the Lexus booth on April 23. In the lead-up to its debut, Lexus has released a teaser image that hints at the vehicle’s distinctive design cues.

Lexus will unveil the all-new ES at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, running from April 23 to May 2. As a global flagship model, the new ES showcases refined electrification technologies while enhancing the signature quietness and ride comfort the model is known for. Full details will be revealed during a press conference at the Lexus booth on April 23. Ahead of the debut, Lexus has released a teaser image offering a glimpse of the model’s distinctive design elements.

Lexus is calling the upcoming ES an all-new model, and the teaser images reveal a significant design evolution. The sedan features redesigned headlights that retain the signature boomerang-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs), along with fresh alloy wheel designs. A major styling update comes at the rear, where the tail-lights are now connected by a sleek LED light bar—a first for the ES. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the new model sports a more coupe-like rear roofline, giving it a sportier profile.

A notable detail in the teaser is the fender-mounted charging port lid, hinting at the debut of an all-electric variant. Adding to the speculation, Lexus has recently trademarked the names ES 350e and ES 500e, pointing toward the potential launch of new EV options—mirroring the brand’s electrification approach seen with the all-electric Lexus RZ available in international markets.

For context, the RZ 350e offers a 224hp front-wheel-drive setup with a 77kWh battery, delivering up to 574km of range. The RZ 500e, meanwhile, features a 381hp all-wheel-drive system using the same battery, with a range of over 500km. If the new ES follows a similar path, it could mark a major step forward in Lexus’s electrification strategy.

Lexus has also trademarked the ES 350h name, confirming the continuation of a strong hybrid powertrain—likely shared with the NX 350h’s 2.5L petrol-electric setup producing 243hp. The all-new ES is expected to launch first in China, followed by other global markets. In India, where the ES accounts for over 50% of Lexus sales, the new-generation model is likely to arrive as a replacement for the current version that’s been on sale since 2018.
