Tesla has inaugurated a new Destination Charging location at Lake Shore Thane, expanding its charging network in India while also launching its Refer and Earn programme for existing Tesla owners.
Located in the UB parking area, the new facility features four AC Destination Chargers, each offering 11 kW of charging capacity. The charging site is designed to provide Tesla owners in Thane with a convenient charging option while they shop or dine at the location. Tesla says the facility offers a 99.95% uptime for a reliable charging experience.
Along with the opening of the charging site Tesla will host its first Tesla Experience in Thane at the Lake Shore Thane Courtyard from 12th to 19th August. Visitors can explore the Model Y and Model Y L on display through guided walkarounds and immersive product experiences. Test drives can be booked by signing up on the Tesla website.
Tesla has also just announced the launch of its Refer and Earn program in India. Existing Tesla owners can refer friends and family to purchase a Tesla. Earn INR 11,000 toward Supercharging or a new Tesla for each person they refer who takes delivery. The first 10 people who order a new Tesla using the referral link will receive INR 22,000 off their purchase price. This program further strengthens Tesla’s growing community and accelerates EV adoption nationwide.
The 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, was recently updated with Grok AI, features 2,138 litres of cargo space, seats up to five passengers, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a range of up to 500 km WLTP. With the commissioning of this site, Tesla now operates 7 charging stations across India, equipped with 20 Superchargers and 24 Destination Chargers.
