ThunderPlus, an electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure company, has installed a public EV charging facility at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The installation brings EV charging infrastructure to a hospital campus, improving access for healthcare professionals, visitors and EV users in the surrounding area.
The facility is equipped with a 60 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, offering charging options to suit different user requirements. The DC fast charger can enable charging in approximately 30–45 minutes, while the AC charger is designed for vehicles that remain parked for longer periods.
The charging station is accessible to doctors, nurses, hospital staff, visitors and members of the general public. By integrating EV charging into a healthcare facility, ThunderPlus aims to make charging more convenient at a location where people may spend extended periods, supporting the wider adoption of electric mobility in Hyderabad.
Raj Kumar Medimi, Director, ThunderPlus, said, “Healthcare facilities are among the most essential and frequently visited spaces in any city, with doctors, medical staff, patients, attendants and visitors spending significant amounts of time on hospital campuses. Integrating EV charging within such environments can therefore address both mobility and convenience needs while supporting the healthcare sector’s broader transition towards more sustainable infrastructure. Our installation at AIG Hospital reflects how healthcare campuses can become an important part of the EV charging ecosystem, enabling people to charge their vehicles during their hospital visits and work hours. We believe such integrations can help create more sustainable and future-ready healthcare environments as electric mobility adoption continues to grow.”
The installation also reflects the growing intersection between sustainable mobility and healthcare infrastructure. Hospitals and healthcare campuses are high-footfall environments, making them relevant locations for expanding access to EV charging while supporting the broader transition towards cleaner modes of transportation.
For healthcare professionals and hospital staff working extended shifts, on-site charging can provide an added layer of convenience by allowing them to charge their vehicles during their time at the hospital. For visitors and members of the public, the facility adds another charging point to Hyderabad’s expanding EV ecosystem.
The development is part of ThunderPlus’ broader effort to expand EV charging infrastructure across everyday-use locations and support the growing adoption of electric mobility in India.
With charging infrastructure increasingly becoming an important factor in EV adoption, locations such as hospitals, workplaces, retail spaces, highways and public facilities can play a key role in making charging more accessible and convenient for users.
